Greetings from the owners and operators of the Jewel of the Northwoods, Rick and Lyn Pinnick. We 'found' our home via this very medium - the Internet! In September of 2006, we found this property on-line while searching for a Bed and Breakfast property within 100 miles of Fargo, North Dakota. Although never having been a B & B, that had been the intent of the previous owners and so listed it accordingly. A sanctuary, a perfect spot for a retreat, a haven from the fast pace of the city...All these things came to Lyn's mind when she first saw what is now home. Youngest son, Derek, and fiancée Danielle, who were also along on that beautiful fall day, heartily agreed and said they would gladly come to visit 39050 Twin Lakes Road. That sealed it for Lyn and the move toward Minnesota was about to begin! In late March of 2007 (during an unexpected spring blizzard, which was NOT Rick's vision for a 'happily ever after' home!!!), we moved in and began the process of slowly getting our home ready for you. Our vision is to allow you the opportunity for a day or a weekend of being pampered; a time for being cared for and cared about in serene surroundings. We do not just want to provide you with good customer service; we come to the business of operating a bed and breakfast with an attitude of service and joy. We want you to feel part of our family in the best possible way....when you walk in our front door, we want you to feel that wonderful sense of coming home, with the smell of fresh baked cookies in the air and the sight of faces that are eager and excited to see you. And yes, there will be cookies or something tasty and home-made waiting for you We are a small bed and breakfast and presently just have three rooms to rent. You can click on the room titles to see pictures on the PRICING page. One is a large suite and two are smaller; however, we feel that our small size is all the better to lavish our attention upon you so you feel at home, in our home. In fact, if you'll let us, we'll take your picture and put it in our scrapbook. Because that's how special you are to us. On your next visit, we want you to point to your picture in our scrapbook, and say, "remember what a great weekend we had the last time we were here." Lastly, you might be interested in knowing about our name. A good friend suggested it during her first visit. She loved our new home and suggested that an appropriate name for our bed and breakfast be one that has a double meaning. First, in honor of Lyn's mother, whose name is Jewell, and who lives with us; and secondly, because our home feels like such a beautiful jewel, such an unexpected find, so secluded in the woods. We hope our guests will also find us to be the "jewel of the northwoods!" JUST ONE (or two) MORE THING(s)... A couple of important facts that you might need to know about us before you decide to make that first visit, however. After all, a surprise like a tasty snack waiting for you in your room is great. But, there are some four-legged surprises that purr and bark you don't want to see if you have an allergy to pet hair. If you are travelling with your pet, please let us know in advance so we can determine if our pets will be compatible with your pet. We do reserve the right not to accept pets and will make that determination at the time of making your reservation. Click here to see our pets. We like pets but not smoking!
